Introduction

What ShowKontrol is#

ShowKontrol connects to a PRO DJ LINK network, reads everything the players and mixer expose (playback, beats, track metadata, phrases, waveforms, cues, beat grids, mixer state, audio levels), and lets you route that live data through a visual Patch to drive outputs, MIDI, MIDI Clock, OSC, UDP, HTTP, Art-Net, sACN, timecode (MTC/LTC/Art-Net TC), Ableton Link, TCNet, MSC, NDI video, an audio Click track and a CSV logger, and to control the CDJs back (Play, Cue, Loops, Hot Cues…). It speaks TCNet both ways (master or client/backup).

The window is titled ShowKontrol - Patch. The canvas panel is the Patch.

Help menu: ShowKontrol Manual, Learning Base, Quick Reference and What's New open this manual in your web browser. It ships inside the app, so it works without an internet connection.

A first Patch (beat → MIDI note)#

1. Add Source → ProDJ Link and pick your network Interface.
2. With it selected, Add Device, set Device ID = 1.
3. In the Device node's Live Data, right-click beat.beatInBar → Add Trigger.
4. Select the trigger, Event = On Change, Release Delay = 60 ms.
5. With the trigger selected, Add a MIDI node. In MIDI Output click + Add Message; set Type = Note (gated by trigger), Note # = 60, Value = 127.
6. Open your receiver and select the MIDI input "ShowKontrol MIDI". Play the deck, a note pulses every beat.
